Making Progress

Family,

Hello everyone! Yet another week has gone by. Actually another transfer has gone by. Transfer calls were last night and... I'm staying! We are both staying. It is good. We are just getting the work going here in this area and getting the Ward together so we are pumped about it.

Thanks for the email Dad. I really needed it. I did. The last 3 weeks have been tough in this area. I think in those 3 weeks we have taught a total of like 5 lessons. We are working hard and being exactly obedient, but people just aren't listening to us. We talk about the gospel and people turn off. We have set a goal to bring up the Book of Mormon in every conversation and when that happens people shut down. But we have been giving out copies of the Book of Mormon which is a good thing. So, as for last week, I don't have much to report.

Except the fact that we have found people to teach. Yeah, I know I say that every week but this week is for real. We had a wonderful day yesterday. I'll tell you about them...

First we have Doug. We knocked into Doug probably 4 weeks ago and didn't think anything of it. We gave him a pamphlet to read and he said he would. We've probably seen him like everyday since then. He is always outside, just doing nothing. So... we started teaching him. He is reading from the Book of Mormon and is praying about it. From what he has read he really likes it and understands it. He has said to us that we are out to get him and change him to be a Mormon, which is true, but we just joke with him a lot. He hasn't come to church yet but hopefully will this week. He has a strong relationship with Christ, which is good, and we are just working on building upon that.

Next we have the family of five. Their last name is Dean. We haven't met with them yet but they seem very receptive to the gospel and especially to the Book of Mormon. We are going on Thursday to meet with them and we are pretty excited about it and have been praying fervently for them.

The next family we are about to begin teaching is the Taylor family, Liz and Mike. We got a call from a sister down in one of the Round Rock wards on Sunday night and she had a referral for us. She talked to Liz pretty much about everything that we had to share, but focused on the Book of Mormon. So we went there last night and when Liz opened the door she was super excited we were there. We talked to her and her husband a little bit and gave them a Book of Mormon and set up a time for us to meet with them. She said she is going to read the Book of Mormon and find out for herself if it is true.

Those are about the only promising people that we are teaching and about to begin teaching. We see the work picking up. Because honestly, we have been down, we have been disappointed, but we have continued to work hard and to be exactly obedient. I don't think I have ever been more obedient to tell you the truth, because I have realized that obedience is the first law in the field, earth, and in heaven. So we are fulfilling our call to this area. And the work is going to flourish here for us in the next 6 weeks. I think a big thing about it as well is that we are getting EBP everyday. EBP if you remember is a promise by Elder Ballard. He said if we everyday do 1) companionship study, 2) talk to 10 people OUTSIDE of finding, and 3) ask for referrals from everyone, we will baptize more. And with baptizing more, comes more success. We have been 14/14 the last two weeks, which I believe is going to be the difference.

I think that is about it. Thanks for everything you all do. Thanks for the prayers and all. They are helping.

Elder Harvey

P.S. By the way, have I ever told you how badly I hate the word y'all. Everyone says it and I am so against it. Ha!
