October Fun

Family!!

Que dicen amigos? Thanks for the pictures of the baby shower. Little Trevan in his suit, what a stud. Avi is growing fast I will agree. So is Trevan. They are going to be big when I come home.

Also thanks for sending me that blanket and the treats. I haven't been sleeping very well before I got that blanket, but since then I have slept OK but still not great. But thanks for sending it to me.

It's great to hear about home and to hear how the family is doing. And to hear about sports. We talk to people a lot about sports especially on Saturdays and Sundays, because either UT is playing or the Cowboys are playing. It's always good to hear about the sports from the home front.

Well another week from the Serenada ward has flown by. We had a pretty good week this last week. We taught some lessons and have some return appointments coming up. We aren't really teaching anyone steadily right now. A lot of the people that we have taught, either we have a return appointment or we had a return appointment and it fell through. For instance, on Saturday all of our appointments fell through. We had three from 12-3 and they weren't there or didn't want to talk to us. But it's all good. We talked to other good people because they our original appointments fell through.

This week we finally got up to one of our surrounding towns - Florence, Texas. It is tiny and just reminded me so much of Vernal. The feel was just like it. The people up there are basically poor, live in the ghetto, and meaner than anybody. We were threatened 2 or 3 times. It was ridiculous. But it was a good day. We talked to a couple of less actives and part-member families, and are going to start working with them.

We had one of our Zone Leaders with us on Wednesday, which was a learning experience and it was good. Me and the zone leader pretty much did all the talking, my companion is kind of getting either lazy or just still shy and doesn't want to talk to many people. I've have noticed since then that I am the one always knocking on doors and doing the talking or door approaches. But, it's helping me grow so I am down for it. I feel that I'm progressing pretty well, learning how to deal with people and teach especially this last week. But then again, I feel my Spanish is lacking. I'm excited for the day when I get to a Spanish area. There is a possibility for the 28th of this month - that is when transfers are - but I doubt that we will leave.

I will just tell you about last Saturday because Thursday and Friday nothing really cool happened. Saturday was wonderful. We worked hard all day. We wrote down 16 potential investigators to go by and see if we can start teaching them. I don't think we talked to one until like the 12th potential we wrote down. But, it was a good time. The wonderful thing about Saturday was at like 7:00 or something. We decided to knock a road that Elder Roland picked the day before. The first house we knocked let us in. It is a family of 5. So we kind of got to know them, and apparently he had been interested in the Mormon faith a little while ago because he had friends. He said that he had talked to his friends, but it turns out that his friends never invited him to read the Book of Mormon. Can you believe that? And so we started to teach them, but they were about to eat dinner so we were there for only like 5 minutes. We didn't really teach a lesson to them, and just talked about our purpose as missionaries and why the Book of Mormon is so important, and then we invited them to read from and pray about the Book of Mormon - and they accepted! We were pumped! We set up a return appointment for the 28th because he is going out of town, and we're very excited. They are going to read that book and we are going to baptize this family of 5! When we left we were excited. We have been looking for a family for 5 weeks now and we have found them. We are going to baptize them! Ha... good stuff right?

Well I think that is all I have to report. I will let you know if I am getting transferred next week or not on Tuesday. Have a good week.

Love you all!

Elder Harvey
