Family,
Hello everyone! It's good to hear how everyone is doing. I am sending Kate a birthday card today. I wasn't able to get it off last week. So it will be late, but late is better than never right. Oh and yes, we did get a package from Grandma Johnson. And it wasn't just a normal package, I think she sent us like 30 cookies. I think a quarter of them are gone now, they are good. Dad here is a scripture for your new calling, I think it is an amazing scripture for missionaries and for everyone. Moroni 9:6, and also Alma 17:2,3,9.
Well another week has gone by. Pretty boring week for us to tell you the truth. We don't have anyone that is progressing or really anyone that we are teaching. We have that family of 5 that we are meeting with for the first time, they canceled last week and we rescheduled for today so that will be good. We had a couple that was a referral from a member down in Round Rock, but they canceled and felt like the husband was being left out, so the members are going to work with them and pass them on to us when they are ready, I guess. We received a referral from Church Headquarters the other day and went by and gave her The Restoration DVD. She said she will call us if she wants to know more. We are still meeting with Doug a little bit. We kind of just show up to his house and talk to him for a bit and like see if he is reading The Book of Mormon, he isn't. He wouldn't come to church with us yesterday and so we don't really know about him. And that's about it... Pretty tough last weeks, I will be honest. We don't teach a lot and we do a lot of knocking which is not that fun.. We are just trying to get something going. We are doing a lot of work in Sun City, the retirement homes. We can't proselyte in there for some reason due to an "ordinance" and so we just ride bikes and talk to people on the streets and visit less active members. Which reminds me, I need a bike. I have been borrowing another missionaries for like 4 weeks now, and I don't want to be the one that is riding it and have it gets stolen or something. So yeah, I need one whenever you can get around to it. The easiest would probably be that I buy one out here for cheap. I talked to Elder Walton (my first companion) who goes home in December, and he said that I could buy his bike from him.
Another thing that started this week was a thing that we are doing in the Ward to get them excited about, and doing, missionary work. It's called the 40-Day Fast. What it is is that a family will sign up for 1 of the 40 days to fast that day for missionary opportunities or for someone to share the gospel with, and then we go and eat at their house and break their fast for them. It is going to be November 8th-December 18th. We are super excited about this because fasting and prayer are huge and we know that the work is going to flourish as this is going on. Hopefully all of the ward members sign up and join us in this.
I think that is about it for this week. Not a whole lot is happening. Have a good week. Love you all!
Elder Harvey
