TSAM

Family,

It's good to hear how everyone is doing. MC pulling it together is a great thing to hear about, and also how Kate and Tay are growing up. Tay sent me an email - well, actually two emails today - and the first one said- Lexie is moving. The second one said- to Chicago. Ha good ol' Taylor. I just laughed.

The next transfers are the 10th of December. So not for a little bit. My trainer goes home this next transfer.. Pretty crazy stuff. I knew that Jake Jenkins was home and no, I did not run into Elder Berntson the other week because he is down in San Antonio and our zone conference was of the Austin area. And so he wasn't at the same zone conference that I was at. But I'm sure I'll run into him shortly. How long has he been out do you know?

This week was a good week as well. We keep finding people throughout the week, but getting them to church and to progress is the hard thing about it. We found a woman who met with missionaries like 30 years ago and believes the Book of Mormon to be true, but her husband is Lutheran and she doesn't want to have contention and what not. She was very energetic when we talked to her and has had a wonderful experience with missionaries in the past. We are going to help her paint her house in the next couple of weeks. I'm trying to use my skills to help people, so we will see if she really calls us to help.

We also found another woman named Tacarra. She is very very nice. We found her by knocking around some potentials that we have. We knocked on her door and just blew her away with the Spirit. We taught her the Restoration and gave her a Book of Mormon and invited her to read it and she said she would. We set up a return appointment with her for last Saturday but she called an hour before and said she had a lot of errands to do so she wouldn't be able to make it. It was a bummer. So we went on Sunday morning to invite her to church and she wasn't there but we met her mother. And her mother told us that she was reading the book we gave her so that is good. We also talked to her that night, trying to help her with her car, and we set up a time for Tuesday. She is searching for something. Her story is that like 10 days before we knocked on her door she moved here. Just out of the blue, she said she has been looking for a church and hasn't found one yet. So we felt very guided by the Spirit to find her.

We also set up our return appointment with Jarrod and we met with him. He is also very sincere and willing to find out if the Book of Mormon is true. When we met with him on Thursday we talked a lot about prophets and apostles. And he was just stunned. He said, with a surprised look on his face, "How come I haven't heard that there is a prophet on the earth before you guys came along?" We explained our purpose and he was just like super excited. He is Baptist, and has a great faith in Jesus Christ. So we are calling him today to set up a return appointment.

I think Saturday was the best day we had this last week. We had 3 member presents set up, but only one happened. But the thing that was still good about it was that we had them set up with members coming. The members are tough to get excited about missionary work. We have been doing this 40-day fast for a week now and it isn't going as planned. The plan was that each day a different family would fast and feed us to break their fast. Well we have had 2 in the last 7 days, and now, looking down the calendar, we have the same families signing up. So it's kind of saddening, but hopefully this next week goes better for it.

Saturday we pretty much dropped Doug. We had a powerful lesson with a member and the member laid it out plainly, but Doug just isn't willing to come to church. He is pretty much on his own time and doesn't have a life or anything. Doesn't work, doesn't go look for work, and so it is very hard to get to him. So our lesson was "if you aren't willing to come to church we can't keep coming back". I think he was sad but didn't want to show it because we are like his only friends that he talks to. We are going back in 2 weeks to see if he has changed his mind. He said he would read everyday and pray about it, so that is a step. It was tough to drop that guy because I am growing to love him. It's frustrating to me when people aren't willing to change and make a step to come to church and see how it is, especially after feeling the Spirit like he did when we had a church tour. But we are finding people to teach and are excited for Tacarra and Jarrod and also David. We just have to get them to church.

Dad -- I need a favor done. It has to be done before the 18th or something like that. Well depends on how you send it. I need them by the 25th of November. My cleats. They should be in one of those bags downstairs, my black and white ones that I had my senior year. We are playing the Turkey Bowl here in this ward and we have an ex-Utah football player, and plus all these high school kids are talking trash to me. So it would help me out a lot, thanks! Let me know if you can do that...I think that is about it.

Thanks for the support and the encouragement. I really appreciate and need it sometimes. I love you all!

Elder Harvey
