Family,

It's been a pretty weird week here in Texas. As you can see from the pictures... we got snow. It snowed on Tuesday night and was cold Wednesday and Thursday. The roads were terrible the morning that it snowed. They were covered in ice and no one could get anywhere. We went out at about 9:30 to try and help the sister missionaries, who had a flat tire, but we are surrounded by major hills and so we couldn't get anywhere. We did drive around a little bit and watch people try and then get stuck. It was pretty funny because we only got about 9/10ths of an inch of snow. But Texas doesn't have any snow plows and so they couldn't do much about it. Oh and instead of putting salt on the roads they laid down gravel.... pretty odd for me but whatever right?

As you know the Superbowl was yesterday. Or the Super Tazon in Spanish. You asked if it was pointless to work? Not at all actually. Because Hispanics don't watch the Super Bowl and so they were just either outside partying or inside doing nothing. We did go over to the Bishop's house last night for our dinner and he wouldn't turn the game off... Even though we didn't really ask him. Ha Ha! So, we watched the fourth quarter... How about them Packers!?

I'll write Kate and Tay this week... Our next transfer is March 3rd. I will probably stay and Elder Sherwood thinks that he is going to leave. We will see. It's still a long ways away.

We are having some trouble finding new, elect people. We talk to a lot of Hispanics but they just say yes to everything and tell us false phone numbers and false addresses. We didn't have anyone at church because it was Stake Conference and it was in a different building that is pretty far away. They broadcasted it from the conference center and Elder Packer and President Monson spoke. It was really good. The Prophet talked about enduring to the end and gathering the lost sheep that are in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. It was a Stake Conference with about 80 stakes and covered those three states. It also was real tough to talk to people this last week because of the cold. The people hate the cold and so they stay inside and don't answer their doors. By the way it is so much colder here then it is there in Utah!!! It is bitter cold here when the wind blows and the humidity is in the air... I'm ready for the summer.

Our last baptism, which was Victor Mendez, is doing really well. Even though he hasn't come to church for the last two or three weeks. He is about to recieve the Priesthood and Satan is working real hard on him. He has had to work at the last minute the past few Sundays, but we visit him every week and he is reading everyday and praying and is excited to progress.

I have come to a realization that the world is so blind. That the churches that bash against us are all around and it is just ridiculous. As we teach and as we testify and share scriptures from The Bible and Book of Mormon the spirit testifies of our Church and our message. But people are blinded by the craftiness of men and turn it away. Elder Sherwood and I talk about it a lot after lessons of how we can't believe that people don't see how true our church is, because we see it in the bible and what it says in there. This church is THE Church of Jesus Christ on the earth once again. With a Prophet and Twelve Apostles, with the authority of God, and with the fulness of the Gospel. I know that for myself... I have grown a lot in this area, in my testimony. Especially in the last couple of weeks. It is great to be here and to be able to share this with the world!

I love you all.

Elder Harvey
