First Area - Austin, TX

Hello family,

Well here is my new address (christopher.harvey@myldsmail.net) . It should still work if you sent it to my old address (c.harvey@myldsmail.net) but this is my new one.

It has been a long week I will tell you that. You know getting back into the routine of things and just coming straight out and leaving everyone it was kind of rough but I know it will get better, and trust me I'm not coming home now that I made it back out here.

I am serving in Austin, Texas. It is kind of north of it a little ways from the center. I cover two wards. One is the McNeil ward and one is the Chisolm Trail singles ward. So we have a lot of church to go to on Sundays, but it is relaxing I will tell you that.

My companion is Elder Walton, he is from Heber City so we kind of have a connection. He is 26 and he has been out for 17 months today. So it is pretty cool, He is a stud and he works hard. He says that I am not a greeny really because I just jumped right into it and I know some stuff about how to do work.

We are all English, we have run into like 2 people that speak only Spanish so I tried to talk to them and it didn't work to well. But I am glad that I am all English right now to get the hold of things so that when I go down to the border I will know how the mission runs and stuff.

We do have like 4 new investigators since I have been here. When I got here they didn't have any that they were teaching which I don't understand but hopefully we can kick it in the rear.

I am not actually in a threesome. It worked out perfectly that when I got here one of the other Elders had to go home to get his knee surgery so I am in a normal companionship.

Transfers are next week, I might get transfered and I might not. I doubt that I will so we will see. Hopefully I stay so that I can get to know people and stay teaching the people we are.

We do have a car. Thank goodness. It is hot here and so we got lucky. I guess that they just got it a couple of transfers ago. This mission is very different then Mexico. I still have some getting used to get.

My Mission President is a stud. The first two days I was down there in San Antonio so I got to spend a lot of time talking with him and asking him questions and stuff. Plus we drove 2 hours together up to Austin on Wednesday so it was good. He is a hard worker and we get a new one on June 30th. I think he will be a stud too.

There are two elders in our area. Just me and Elder Walton are up here. But there are a lot of areas around us so in our Zone there are like 10 elders. We are in the Round Rock Zone.

Most of the Elders are pretty cool here. I haven't met a lot of elders yet but I have met some.

We do get to wear shirts and ties on regular days. Short sleeved. But on Sundays we have to wear suits which sucks, but we do have A/C in every house and the church building so it is pretty sweet. A lot better then Mexico I will tell you that. Carpet on the floor, it is nice.

I haven't really had any real cool experiences yet but I know that the spirit is testifying through me and I can feel that I am clean and pure. It is a lot better feeling being out here clean and pure then to be out here with guilt and sin. I am glad that I made the decision to come back out. I already feel that I have grown, and am going to grow a whole lot. The gospel is true and I am grateful that you guys pushed me to come back out here. I love you all.

Elder Harvey
