Family,
Well hello everyone! It sounds as if the week has been crazy and all... You guys have it lucky with Pioneer Day. Down here, as you know, they don't celebrate it and Elder Walton and I didn't even realize that it was Pioneer Day, but it sounded fun like always. Did Katie get the letter that I wrote her last week?
The next transfer is this next week. On the 5th of August. I bet my companion is leaving. He has been here for 4 moves and there was something that happened this last week that might secure that he leaves. That thing is that he had a mental breakdown.
On Wednesday at District Meeting we were doing role plays and he got so frustrated and mad at himself for not remembering and not being able to talk that he stormed out and tried to go and blow off some steam. I went with him of course, and then we talked for awhile of what it was and how I could help. It was tough seeing him like that. It was mainly just stress building up and then it all came out at once and it was during District Meeting.
Then the District Leader came over the next day and talked with him and pretty much said that a change of scenery would probably help, and what not. Then they had the meeting with the Zone Leaders and I bet the District Leader brought something up about it, cuz we then got a phone call that night from the President wanting to meet with Elder Walton. We drove down South a little ways to have him meet with him. So yeah it was pretty crazy and all. But everything has been good since then. I bet I will probably stay but then again you never know what will go down. Next Monday we will find out and Tuesday will be our P-day and you will find out. I'm hoping I stay cuz we have some pretty sweet stuff going on right now.
The first thing is about Theresa and Chaz. We met with them both twice this last week and they were "sick" lessons. One we had the Bishop with us and it was a very powerful lesson. She came to church yesterday too. And she loved it! It was very "sick!" We were going to set her with a baptismal date on Tuesday but we just got a call from her and her husband closed up again. He was mad that she went to church, but when he was talking to us he said it would be fine for her to go. It is crazy. We were very disappointed when she called us this morning. But we know that the Lord will prepare a way for her to get baptized because she knows it is true and wants to continue to progress. So keep praying for them..
The other thing is that we picked up a guy for the Singles Ward and he has a baptismal date for the 8th of August. He is pretty "sick." His name is Cassius Pieper. He is a little different but very willing to learn and to change. He also came to church yesterday and liked it. After church we had what they call a "munch and mingle" and he liked that as well... it was pretty sweet.
We had our first interviews on Wednesday with President Jones. I told him my whole story and we just pretty much got to know each other. I also asked him a few questions about how to work in the Singles Ward, cuz it chaps me when I look at our numbers each week for them and they are all zeroes. He gave me some advice and we have now begun to do that. We got a list from the Bishop and his counselors of less actives that we are going to take a day and go and visit. We are probably going to bike all day cuz of miles... Which reminds me... I don't have a bike... When I need to buy one or something I will let you guys know.
I think that is about it for this week. I love you all! Have a good week.
Elder Harvey
