Well, another week has flown by. It is crazy sometimes how fast time goes. It feels like the days are weeks but the weeks are days. Sometimes it is just all around slow, but it is all good.
Thanks for the package. I got it on Saturday and it is always awesome to get packages. I'm sure the treats will treat Elder Walton and I good! And the card was way awesome. Also, thanks for depositing money into my account. It is going to benefit me a lot. I'll try not to spend it all real fast. Ha! And to comment on the Elder from the Maeser Third Ward. I met him my first day because they were at the mission home for some reason and I met him there. My companion has served with him. One transfer and they got doubled out. He says that they did not get along at all, and they would always yell at each other. So Elder Walton has experience with him, which is crazy, but I know who he is.
Sister Bollinger called you guys last week. She is awesome and that family is awesome. They have a son leaving on his mission in 2 weeks. She told us she called and I will tell her thanks and that you guys liked hearing from her.
Yes we do get to do some fun stuff on p-days. We usually play sports with the whole zone. It is fun sometimes but also not very fun sometimes. I think today actually we are having a tri-zone dodge ball competition. So if we go it will be pretty fun. The next transfer week is August 5th, so we are in our third week of this transfer or something. My companion goes home in December, which he is pretty pumped for. To go back to the mountains and stuff. He is awesome!
But anyways this week...
Pretty crazy week this week. We don't really have any progressing investigators. Kenneth Adair has dropped off, we talked to him for the first time in like 3 weeks the other day. He is moving cuz he can't afford his place, and he said that he just was stressed out and so he got rid of everything that he thought was stressing him out (he thinks one of those things was us). But whatever... ya know? He will come back and be ready later. We did have a single adult progressing. She was a referral from the Stony Point Elders which are right next to us, and she was single so they passed her on to us. We taught her twice and she turned 31 a week ago, so we talked to the bishop and she has to go back to her family ward. We are passing her back, which is sad cuz she is going to be baptized within the next month. But it's alright, it doesn't matter who baptizes her just that she gets baptized and progresses.
We haven't really found anyone else to teach that is legit. We did find a family this past week but they didn't make it to church. They were way awesome and I hope that something will come from it cuz I can see them being baptized and being members. They were the Miranda family.
I think the big thing that happened this last week was our Zone Conference. We met the new president and his family (the Jones family). They are way awesome. I know he is called of God to be our mission president. We met him and got trained on some teaching skills by our three assistants... one of which went home on Friday... it was awesome. There was some huge news. This is like the sickest thing ever. It is going to be a world-wide change within the missions. There is a lot so hopefully I can remember all the details. But anyways... They are now changing zone conferences to once every two transfers, and the same for president interviews. The reason for this is so that the mission president has more time. He is going to use that time to go out with companionship's to lessons and see how they are doing and give them feedback. It is going to pretty much be like one-on-one training with the mission president. I think it is going to be exciting and will help us out a lot. And the other huge thing is that every other month they are having a Leadership Training Meeting. This meeting is for all the leadership in the mission... assistants, zone leaders, district leaders, and trainers... and what is going to happen is that all of them are going to go down to San Antonio for 3-4 days and be trained hardcore on 8 things. The 8 things are like new lessons pretty much for missionaries to use to be better missionaries. A couple of them are like Revelation Through Prayer, Revelation Through The Book of Mormon, Revelation Through Preach My Gospel, etc... All of these lessons are to make us better missionaries and help us to fulfill our purpose better.
As we were told this in Zone Conference, we were all shocked and excited. And as we thought about it as a companionship we came to the realization that the future missionaries (which includes me) are going to tear it up. Because of this training meeting they are going to be powerful missionaries and bring more people to the church. And the other cool thing about this is that it comes from the First Presidency directly. This is not going to be introduced in Preach My Gospel until May of next year. So we are going to have a jump on things here in the coming 6 months. I'm super pumped about this, cuz it is going to help me a whole lot. Hopefully I'll be able to go down to one of the first 5 that they do these. Some pretty crazy changes huh? That is what we thought. But it is going to be sick!
I think that is about it for this week. We are working hard and it is a little bit disappointing to not be teaching someone constantly but I'm still working hard. Thanks for all you guys do! I love you all!
Love,
Elder Harvey
