Family,
Well a real fast week and not much even happened.
Tuesday we worked all day, but I wasn't even in my area. As a District Leader, I work with each companionship in our District, on exchanges for a day. So I went to the other Elder’s area and worked. Their area is great and they have like 3 times as many Hispanics as we do. It was great.
On Wednesday and Thursday I had training meetings that lasted pretty much all day. On Wednesday I didn't get back until 5:00 and then on Thursday we didn't get back until 6:00. It was training for District Leaders, Zone Leaders, and all sisters on the 8 fundamentals of Preach My Gospel. It was really good and I learned a lot. I made me be better, want to be better, and work harder. The hard part is just applying all that we learned in such little time.
And then Conference was this weekend. Saturday was just a sit and do nothing day for us. We watched both sessions of conference at the church, had lunch in between, then had dinner after the evening session and went to Priesthood Session. There were some great talks.
Sunday was our day. We had 3 people come out to General Conference. One was Gustavo, who we dropped over a text about two weeks ago, and we decided to text him and just remind him about it and he showed up. He loved it. He called us last night and just went off on how wonderful it was and he thanked us for inviting him, and he told us a story of how in a church in Peru (not ours) he heard one of the songs Mo Tab sang. So he called his friend, or something, after and was asked what song is that and where did it come from, and she told him the people that sing it and she said a "chorro de tabernáculo" which is Tabernacle Choir. And then it all clicked for him, and he realized that it was from the Mo Tab. He loved it and we know he wants to get baptized now because you can't watch Conference and not feel the spirit.
We also had Adrian Ramos there. Elder Sherwood and I taught him for awhile and actually dropped him a little bit before he left. We went by and just invited him to it and he called us yesterday morning to find out how to get to the building, and then he came. We can't really tell his feeling because he is shy and doesn't say much and isn't a very cheerful guy. But we are going to go by this week to see how he felt and point the Spirit out to him.
And our final investigator was Moises. Moises is great. He is a Jehovah’sWitness… well he studies with them and goes to their church. But the first lesson we had with him was just real powerful and we invited him to repent and come unto the fold of God so he can return to live with him. We gave him a Book of Mormon and he has been reading it. We pretty much had to drag him to conference, but he really appreciated it after and loved it. We pointed out the Spirit to him and he recognized it and knows he needs to act now.
So we have some great things going in this area right now. We are going to baptize this month. There is a family or someone out there that is being prepared… prepared to accept the Restored Gospel. We just need to find them right?
I really enjoyed conference this weekend. I really enjoyed how they talked a lot of families and how important it is to get married. It didn't even make me homesick, because this is the work of the Lord. One of our Zone Leaders is going home in a week, and you can imagine how much flack he got and how many missionaries said something to him. It was great. I also really enjoyed how a couple of them talked about "the small and simple things". Especially because that is how the Lord works and if we change the small and simple things in our life or do them, then big things will come to pass. How great that scripture is!
Well that is about it for this week. Transfers are next week on Thursday. I will probably leave and go somewhere new. But we will see on Sunday.
Hasta la próxima semana!
los quiero!
Elder Harvey
