NOTE: New address is posted here ---->
Hello,
It seems like life has gotten pretty busy for everyone at home. It's always good to be busy though. I love hearing about Katie and Taylor and what is going on in their lives.
As you know, I got transferred last week. I am now in East Zone. Which is east of San Antonio. We cover a military base here and our area covers Randolph Air Force Base. The Ward here is great. They actually do things for missionaries, like sacrifice time to go to lessons and stuff like that. There are a lot of good things going on in this area. We should have a baptism coming up at the end of September and hopefully a lot more on the way. I'm here with Elder Peterson. He has been out 2 more transfers than I have, so he has two transfers left and he goes home in November. He is a good missionary, but not exactly my kind of cookie. We have had our differences but we are working on them and I'm trying to be a little bit more tolerant of the things that he does differently than me. But it will be alright, and we are going to work hard here for at least 6 weeks and maybe more after that.
The area is pretty big but it isn't anything like Marble Falls. There are a lot of doors to knock and a lot of people to visit. I'm finally back into a "family" ward. Marble Falls was a very old ward and there were hardly any kids or teens in that ward, but here there are a whole lot of both. I feel a little more comfortable here and so it will be a good area to serve in. I'm excited to be here.
We have a couple of people that we are teaching. We had 4 people at church yesterday and 3 of them have dates. One of them is Mason LeVar. He is 15 and his whole family are members but they are kind of inactive. We have recently started teaching them and the family is coming back to church and Mason has a baptismal date for the 24th of September. He is a great kid. It is a family of 7 and so it reminds me of our family, just younger.
We are also teaching Gary and Jody Watkins. They are real great. They already have a testimony of the Book of Mormon and of the gospel but can't be baptized because they aren't married and he still isn't divorced and that will take about 2 or 3 months. But they have a goal for this upcoming month just so they will continue to strive and feel the Spirit and not lose desire. We are doing a lot of inactive and less active work here. It blows my mind how there are so many members that are inactive. That is one reason I love Utah because I can think of only 5 or 6 households in our ward that are inactive... The blessings of Utah.
But things are going great here in Texas. The weather will hopefully start cooling off... They say that the weather we are having is the worst it has been in 50 years.
I think that is about it for this week. Thanks for all the support and prayers. I love you all!
Elder Harvey
