Dad,
Well how about them Longhorns eh? Ha! I didn't hear about it until the next day at Church because while we were working on Saturday, no one was watching it.
This last week seems like it went real fast and now that I look back at it, not much happened. A lot of our appointments fell through, especially with our progressing investigators. It's frustrating sometimes because the only way that they will progress towards baptism is if they meet with us on a constant basis. But that whole patience thing is important I guess, right?
We had only two investigators come to church this last week. Jody and her kids came. They are loving it. Her husband, Garry, only comes every other week because he works every other week. They really saw some blessings this last week since the fast that they had. When we went over last Thursday to meet with them, and to give them the money from the member, we had a member with us who is going to file his divorce papers for free. Well it all worked out. We taught them about the Atonement and the example that is used in Gospel Principles, of the debtor, creditor and friend. We related it back to Christ and they really enjoyed it. Then we related it to the anonymous member within the ward that has donated $250 to pay the filing fee. As we were speaking, he was so overwhelmed that he just started crying and couldn't speak. After a little bit he just came and gave us big hugs each for like a minute. He was so excited. It was a blessing to see him and to be able to offer that to him. They are really great people and I'm glad that I have the chance to teach them.
The other person that we had at church was Michael Ball. He is 20 and is a high school dropout. We found him this last week while we were knocking. He doesn't have a job, a phone, a car, etc... Pretty much just has a house to live in. He is a pretty humble guy. He doesn't know much about the Bible because the last time that he went to church was when he was 8 years old. The first couple of lessons were the most basic lessons that I have ever taught. In one of them we talked about prayer for like 5 minutes, and then we sat there for 45 minutes waiting for him to pray. The second lesson was all about church. He has desires to change and he wants to change. He has a baptismal date for the 29th of October. He at least made the step of coming to church and showing forth his faith.
Things have been going well with the companion. I've really grown in patience this last week. We are still working at it..
That is about it that happened this last week. We have a real good week coming up with appointments already set up with investigators and potentials and former investigators.
Thanks for all the support. I love you
Elder Harvey
