Well, well, well... it sounds as though things are going great and Katie is doing well at volleyball. She really needs to strive to get a scholarship somewhere. If I could go back and set my goals on that I would. I had the chance to talk to Elder Berntson this last week and he told me that he is going home a month early. He is pretty excited about it.
This last week was busy...
We are having a lot of success in this area lately. We now have 10 investigators with a baptismal date. And we had 5 investigators come to church yesterday. We really saw a lot of blessings yesterday.
Garry and Jody both came to church yesterday. They are still moving forward for baptism. We re-set them with a date for the 29th of October because they are still working on some legal matters. He has to get divorced from a previous marriage before he and Jody can get married and then get baptized. And the papers take about 2 -5 months to get through the system and for them to be divorced. It also costs $250 to file them and they for sure don't' have the money to be able to do that. But we witnessed a miracle regarding that. This last week Garry and Jody have gone through a lot of stuff. Their car got repossessed and he didn't go to work this whole last week. Luckily he didn't lose his job yet, but he still doesn't have a way to get to work. And so therefore they can't start saving money for the divorce papers. And so what we did was this last week we taught them the law of fasting and invited them to fast for special blessings. So they fasted this last Sunday and they truly received a blessing. Our Ward Mission Leader, Brother Anderson, came up to us after our Gospel Essentials class and said that he was going to be able to help them out and pay for the divorce filing fee. It truly was an answer to a fast. We haven't presented the "anonymous gift" to them yet but we will be doing that tonight.
We also had a new family that we found two weeks ago come to church. The mom, two daughters and a little boy came to church yesterday. The dad had to work or else he would have come as well. They are a pretty sweet family and have begun reading the Book of Mormon and are enjoying it. They are just real basic regarding their knowledge of God and the scriptures and so when we teach them it is really simply.
We also had a part-member family come to church. Brother Messina isn't a member but his wife has been a member her whole life. He has come to church the last 4 weeks and has been enjoying it. We had a lesson with him yesterday and we set him with a baptismal date for the 29th of October as well. He is just waiting for an answer and has been praying and reading for it. He is a great investigator. But we don't teach him very often because he is out of town almost every week because of work.
Our other investigators that have baptismal dates didn't come to church even though they all pretty much said that they would. It is real frustrating how people can't live up to their word. But we will be getting a lot of them out to church next week.
We have a lot of good investigators that we are teaching. I'm having a rough time with my companion. It's real hard to understand aand love him because we're so different. But I realize that I must. I'm really trying to love him but it is not very easily realized. I guess I will end up learning something, but I can't see that right now.
Well that is about it for this week. Have a good week. Love you all!
Elder Harvey
