Dreaming of a WHITE Christmas

Dad,

Well you aren't the only one that is going to have a busy week ahead of them. Ours is going to be very stressful but at the same time, if all goes as planned, it will be very rewarding.

Nacho and Maria and then Bro. Bas should all be getting baptised this next weekend. Nacho and Maria are having their interview today by President Jones and so it should all be well and they should pass and we will go forward with it on the 24th. They are so ready to be baptized. Yesterday at church they we telling everyone that it is going down on Christmas Eve. We are very excited and are dreaming of a WHITE Christmas!!

Bro. Bas has a date for Christmas Eve, but he keeps on saying he isn't ready. We haven't taught him everything but will do that the next couple of days so that he will be ready. He knows it all is true and has already overcome the obstacle that we thought he was going to have a hard time with - coming to church without his wife. He did that the first Sunday we invited him.

We had a total of 7 people at church yesterday. We found a family this last week of 4 that are real sweet! They reminded me a lot of Jennifer and Walter Wilson up in Marble Falls and how they began their conversion just by asking questions about our lives as missionaries and really feeling the Spirit and saying they want to learn more. They came to church and we "sicked" the whole ward on them. As we were greeting at the door we told all the members that their was a new family visiting and they should go and "saludar" them (aka greet them). Well the Branch stepped it up and a whole lot of people went and greeted them and took them under their wings. We believe they liked it even though they left before priesthood. We are teaching them this upcoming week and so we are very excited about it.

The Lord has blessed us a lot the last couple of weeks with a big teaching pool. We were expecting 8 at church yesterday. One of the part-member families that is less active, the husband who is not a member didn't come, but his wife did who is a member and so that was good to have her there.

We have Christmas coming up and also Christmas Conference this week. We're going carolling at the Alamo with President Jones and Sister Jones on Friday and then of course Christmas Eve is on Saturday. Transfers are this Wednesday before Christmas Conference. Elder Lindsay and I will both be staying and we will be getting another Zone Leader as a threesome. The reason being is because Elder Lindsay leaves mid-transfer and there needs to be someone to replace him. The time is getting short for both of us, this will be a really busy transfer as it is the last. We will be BAPTIZING!!

That is about it for our busy week. Well actually one funny story that y'all can picture in your head and it will probably make you laugh.

We were teaching these two "catrachos" which is the nickname for Hispanics from Honduras. Well we were teaching two of them and one of them had been drinking, of course, and he was saying real random things and wasn't really listening. We were laughing from the things he was saying because they had nothing to do with the conversation about the church and gospel. Well at the end of the lesson they taught us some words from Honduras like "alero" which means friend or that is what they call their friends and what not. Well we go to leave and he looks at my companion, this drunk guy, and says ?sabes que? te quiero flaco." Which is interpreted, "you know what, I love you skinny guy." And then he hugged him. Well after that to top it off I turned to him and said "como aleros, ?no?" Which is interpreted, "Like buddies right?" And I pumped my chest with the sign of give me a chest bump, and then I gave him a chest bump and he gave me one back. Ha ha... it was the funniest thing ever! Elder Lindsay laughed the whole way to our next appointment. Drunk Hispanics are hilarious because we just mess with them!

Well that is about it. I hope you liked that little story. MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL! Love y'all!

Elder Harvey

Sidenote... Chris will be calling at 8:00 pm Christmas Day to talk to the family. As of today, I'm reminded that he has 45 days left.
