Dad,
The Christmas season is great isn't it? There still isn't snow here but it still feels like Christmas. My companion and I did something this last week that really brought back the Christmas memories. I will tell you about it but first I need to address something.
I will need help in order for me to get home. If you remember, my driver's license is expired and I will need ID to get on the plane. We went to the DMV to get a government issued ID card but I need my birth certificate, social security card, and then another form of ID in order to get a replacement ID. That obviously is a lot of work and would cost some money. I do have a passport, but it is at home somewhere. I don't remember where I put it. It may be in documents, or in one of the boxes that I packed up before I left. I think that would be the easiest - if you found my passport then you could send me that. If you can't find it then what I will need is two forms of government ID such as birth certificate, school transcripts, etc. with picture ID.... So yeah I will need something before the 1st of February. Thanks!
Also - yes I did get the Halloween package a couple of weeks ago from the other elders. Thanks for it! I will swing by the office today and pick up my Christmas package.
We had a pretty decent week. The next two weeks will be very busy with meetings, Christmas conference, transfers, etc. My companion is going to the temple with all of the departing missionaries tomorrow and so that will be an interesting day.
We should be having a baptism this Saturday. Nacho should be getting baptized. He is ready and all he needs to do is pass the interview with President Jones. His wife came to church with him yesterday for the second time which was very good for her. Their relationship is really terrible because they don't spend time with each other and so hopefully this can strengthen it.
We had been teaching a guy like 3 weeks ago and he came to church three times but then he disappeared and went on a drinking binge. Well we were driving the other day and I saw a homeless looking guy on the side of the road under some roof and it looked like Jesus (which is the guy's name) so we flipped back around and drove by again. We drove by like 5 times until finally I was about 90% sure that it was him and we pulled up and rolled down the window and yelled his name and he waved us over. Well we got out and started talking to him. He was very, very drunk and was saying some really funny things and we were just listening, etc. By the end of the conversation he asked for $1.50 to buy another beer and, of course, we had to say "no". He started following us and was yelling at us how he is going to steal our car, etc. We just laughed! It was a funny experience.
We also found a pretty great family this last week that will be coming to church with us in the next couple of weeks. The work gets more difficult when the holidays roll around because family comes in or they go out of town and are busy. But we will be doing what we can with our investigators.
The experience that Elder Lindsay and I had that brought back Christmas memories is that in our apartment we started a fire in the fireplace and we sat and did our planning for the next day by it. It brought back the memories of Christmas eve. It was pretty sweet!
Other than that not much happened. We are still trying to find those elect people and then when we do to help them get baptized and join the church.
Let me know about the whole passport thing or what we should do.
Have a good week! I love you all!
Elder Harvey
