Family,
Hello there! Thanks for the emails it sounds like everyone is doing good.
First off... Dad, when did you serve? 72-74 or what? The reason I ask is because there is a member here in the McNeil Ward that is 53 and served around that time, in Korea and all. I asked him if he knew you, but he was only there for 6 months so I don't know. He told me to tell you that we ate Kim Pop with him. It was pretty good, his daughters also made Sushi that wasn't as good as yours, of course, but, oh well. I think Kim Pop is stir fry?
Also, did you send a referral? Someone named Dominic? Cuz we got the referral and it said referred by Duane Harvey. If so, that is sweet. We didn't get an apartment number for him, and now he won't call us back.
So this week...
Well it was a pretty good week. We are working hard and the work is exploding here in the McNeil Ward. It is sweet to see. We are still working with about 5 people trying to get them baptismal dates and stuff like that, but we haven't quite got that far. We have a couple that are reading the Book of Mormon and keeping commitments, which is good, and we can work with them. It is just hard when they don't read and don't pray and stuff like that, but it is alright.
We did have a baptism yesterday! It was sweet. It was for the Chisholm Trail Ward (YSA). His name was Javon. This week has been frustrating trying to prepare for it and stuff, cuz he was kind of weird about it. The reason I say that is cuz he wanted it small and like we made a program and had like talks and songs and stuff before and after and he didn't want to be there for them. He said he just wanted to be in a room reading his Book of Mormon then come in and get baptized. But we worked with him and told him that it would be good if he was there for the whole program and so he was and it was awesome. He was a pass-on from other Elders in another area, but because he is single and goes to the Singles Ward we taught him a lot. One of the other Elders baptized him. It was legit!
We had our last interviews with President Cutler on Wednesday. So pretty much it was like my first and last with him. The new president comes in on July 1st. His name is President Jones and Sister jones, and they are from California, I believe. I'm excited to meet him. I think that the first two weeks that they are here they are going around with one of the assistants before he goes home to do interviews and stuff like that. But I don't know for sure. I guess we will see.
It is very hot and humid here, all day, every day. It gets up to about 95 everyday and probably like 100% humidity. It's rough.. but good at the same time.
I talk in Sacrament Meeting next week, and so does my companion. So we are talking on fathers since it is Father's Day. Happy Father's Day next week by the way. Sorry you aren't cool enough for the missionaries to call you on Father's Day like they do on Mother's Day. It will be pretty exciting talking for the first time on Sunday.
We have a confirmation next Sunday and also a baptism on the 27th. So the next two weeks will be crazy ones once again. Nice and stressful that is how we like it.
I think that is about it. We are still working hard and trying to bring people unto Christ. Transfers are next week, so I will tell you on Tuesday whether or not I am staying or leaving. I love you all, have a good week!
Elder Harvey
