Family,
Oh how I don't miss the crazy weeks at home. Ha - even though they are pretty crazy here as well.
I checked out the Blog and the house looks awesome. How is Drew's finger doing? That is terrible that everyone was laughing at it but it is kind of funny.
You guys are probably in SLC right now and just having fun. It's alright it is 10:00 here and I am at a member's house emailing because everywhere else is closed and I have already played two hours of basketball today, so we are having fun as well.
You talking about Jeeps reminded me of when I see Jeeps here in Texas all jacked up and ready to go off road but then I think that there is no where to go off road here so I just laugh. I call their Jeeps "Pansies". Jeeping is one thing I miss so I can't wait until I get to do it again. But this time in my own Jeep.
Thanks for the Line of Authority, that is pretty sweet to see. I printed it out and will always remember it and have it handy for investigators and what not.Texas football has started and it is not very fun to see. I see the lights and I just flashback to those good ol' days. The other night, on Saturday, we went to a restaurant with some members and ate and it was right after the UT game, which was up in Houston. It was packed and everyone was talking about the game and what not. Luckily we didn't have to knock during the game because no one would have listened.
Transfers are next week. Pretty crazy! So next Tuesday I will know if I'm staying or going. I believe I still have work here to do in McNeil so we will see. I don't have any pictures of President Jones but I will see if I can get one soon. I will send them as I take them.
Yet another week has flown by here in the TSAM! We are seeing blessings upon blessings here in McNeil. We had a baptism this last week. Adam and Anneliese got baptized. It was a sweet service. They were super excited and were smiling the whole time. Their family loved it, and they were crying of course. So it was a very good and legit week, especially to cap it off with a baptism and confirmation on Saturday. I attached some pictures of us before the baptism. Ha if you notice on Adam he is wearing a huge baptismal suit, we didn't have any clean kid ones because the stake baptisms were earlier that day and so they used them all. But it worked. And all that matters is that it got done.
We now have another baptismal date, Carina Miller - the one that was a referral from last week. We set her with a date for the 18th and she is solid. She came to church once again on Sunday and she even came to the baptism on Saturday. Her kid is crazy though and he runs around and just distracts. So Elder Loveless and I try to keep him occupied so that she can listen and learn. But she is solid and good to go. We are meeting with her on Wednesdays and Fridays every week and are calling her everyday to see how things are going. We also are teaching like crazy. We have set people with soft baptismal commits for when they know that the Book of Mormon is true, then they will be baptized. There are like 4 people that we have done that with.
We are teaching a guy and his wife who are just intense. Their names are Andy and Josie. He is like bi-polar I swear. We met with him and his wife and some members last night for like 2 hours because he just has so many doubts and it gets heated some times. It was crazy last night we were way bold with him and just like "boom" here it is. This last week with him and another guy named Bob, they have expressed to us that the Book of Mormon can't be true because it is so clear from like 600 b.c. to 0 and prophesying of Christ even before he came. It is crazy to me how people will just come up with lame stuff like that about the Book of Mormon, just because they don't want to believe it and they don't want to accept it. But then at like the end of the lesson we knelt and prayed, and he tried to offer us money for our time. So it is just super crazy and we don't know what to think.
We are also teaching Bob. Now Bob is just as intense. When we first knocked into him we had a sweet restoration lesson with him, and we gave him a Book of Mormon to read and he said he would read it. We then went back on like Tuesday and he had read all of the chapter headings throughout the whole book. And now he is about to begin Mosiah and so he has read First and Second Nephi. We feel like he will come around and have a change of heart if he keeps reading it like that. We had an intense lesson with him on Tuesday that for sure was guided by the Spirit. He asked questions and we were able to answer them boldly and with love. I think it got to him. So we are still meeting with him hardcore.
The other two people we are meeting with a regular basis but nothing too hardcore there. We are just praying and trying to figure out how we can help them progress towards baptism. I think that is about it. Have fun in SLC. I love y'all!
Elder Harvey
