Family,
Well it was good to talk to everyone yesterday! It's crazy how time flies and that 45 minutes is up real fast. Another 15 minutes would have been great. But it is all good!
This week was a little tough for us. We didn't hardly teach anyone, but we have an investigator still progressing to baptism and so that is good.
We did paint a house all day Saturday. The first paint job my whole mission, even after telling people that I was a painter for 3 years. It was pretty much me cutting in, and Elder Frei rolling behind me and the rest watching... But it was good service for an inactive family. I’ve still got it in me!!!
We talked in church yesterday - both of us. We talked for each 3-4 minutes about our mothers. It was great and I was filled with gratitude for my mother! I told everyone of how she would always pull the 100 question game on me everyday... but that it kept me in check and so it was good!
I already told you, Dad about Lynn Taylor, the lady that we had a real powerful spiritual experience with, but I figure I will tell it again so everyone knows. Elder Frei and I went by her house yesterday to check up on her reading of the Book of Mormon. She hadn’t called us since our last meeting. It had been two weeks and so we figured she had read almost the whole book because honestly she doesn't have much else to do. As we started to talk to her she told us that she started the book then stopped after doing some research on the Internet about "Mormons". Her husband then came out and started to do the same and pretty much tell us to go away and was being a little smart-alecky and what not. It was hard for us and we kind of started to get upset, and what not, because obviously we dont' like people talking bad about the church when they don't even know the truth and haven't tried to find out if it is true. But after taking a step back in our minds we calmed down and just decided to get past the anti-Mormon stuff by bearing strong solid testimony of the divinity of The Book of Mormon. The spirit came instantly and they listened with real intent. She decided to throw out all the negative that she had heard or read, and simply read and pray and ask God if it is true. It was a great experience as we stepped back and the true power of solid testimony came forth. They felt the spirit, we felt the spirit, and we re-committed her to reading The Book of Mormon.
Things are going great, like I said on the phone. I'm happy, and enjoying the work. We are just working harder and harder each day to try and find those people that are ready to be baptized!
Thanks for all you do!
Love you all!
Elder Harvey
