BAPTISM!!!
That's what I'm talking about right there. Baptism week!!! The service was awesome, and Camille loved it. She was baptized on Saturday and then confirmed on Sunday. Like I said, the service was awesome. The Spirit was there very strongly, and it was a good time. We made "baptismal cake" and it was the first time we have done it and it turned out pretty good. Sunday was an amazing confirmation though. Her grandpa confirmed her, and we stood in, and everyone was crying their eyes out in the Ward, especially her, her grandpa, and her husband David. And then all the testimonies were pointed to the great opportunity that everyone has had to be a witness of that. And then at the end, Camille stood up and bore her testimony. She bore solid testimony of the truthfulness of the Church and of The Book of Mormon. It was great! David is still waiting to hear back from the First Presidency on when he can get baptized, he is still on parole for 13 years and so i doubt he can get baptized before that is up. But he will do it..
We have been really struggling to find new people that are willing to act and come to church and what not. We don't have anyone that we are teaching on a steady basis, and so we are just trying to be diligent and we are knocking trying to find them. We have also really turned to visiting in-actives and less actives and we have had success with that. We have run into a couple of families that are willing to come back and want to come back and so we have started to teach them. It's just hard in this Ward because it seems like there are a couple of things: 1- People come once a month or once every two months. 2- Everyone just stays for sacrament meeting and then leaves after that. It's disappointing when you visit someone, invite them to church and then they leave after Sacrament meeting and don't come back the next week. But it is all part of the work I suppose...
All of our investigators have kind of dropped off. Katie, who had a solid date, just disappeared this last week. Her sister doesn't even know where she is. She won't return our calls or our texts and so we don't know what is going on there. And then our other investigator that was pretty solid, we just haven't met with her for awhile because she has been out of town and she works a lot. But we are going to get over there this week and meet with her.
We knocked into a guy the other day and he didn't want anything to do with us but we got talking a little bit and it turned out that he owns a shop called "The Mod Shop". And you guessed right Dad, it was for Jeeps. We have driven by it a couple of times and he has a lot of Jeeps that he is working on, but they are all older and not very big. But I told him that you had one and we go to Moab and we talked about that for a little while. He has been up there a couple of times and he loved it. It was fun to talk about Jeeps. I'm for sure getting one when I get home! I asked him about his Jeep and he told us that he has 40" tires on his. Could you imagine? That beast would go anywhere... Someday, right dad?
We're just trying to be diligent and not get down on ourselves because we aren't seeing instant success in the work. But we are pretty stoked about the baptism that we just had so that will carry us forward for a couple of weeks.
The work continues...
Love you all!
Elder Harvey
