HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Thanks for the pictures of Taylor. I don't quite know who she is (Steven from Nacho Libre) but it looks pretty funny. She is very tall now, or so it looks like in the picture. How tall is she now? It's crazy how a lot of things change in two years, including myself.
We had a good week this last week. It has been slow here this last couple of weeks for finding new people to teach and getting new people to church. But we have a real good week coming up with a lot of less-active lessons scheduled. We have really focused on that this last couple of weeks - on trying to reactivate members here in the area. The Ward is already big enough but we are trying to get certain families back that may push the Stake to think about splitting the Ward. We are excited about it.
We BAPTIZED!!! It was a great service. Dana was filled with the Spirit. I baptized her which was truly an honor. She asked me last week to do it and I felt honored. She also got confirmed "water side" because we also had Stake Conference this last week and we didn't want to wait for a week to get her confirmed. During her baptismal service, after getting confirmed, she was of course feeling the Spirit and crying but she bore solid testimony of the truthfulness of the Church and The Book of Mormon. The great thing was was that we had 3 investigators there. Garry and Jody attended and so did Scott Messina. They all felt the Spirit and enjoyed it. Garry and Jody are going to be getting baptized in two weeks, they are stoked! Now, Brother Messina is a different story. He is still searching and doing everything necessary to find out but doesn't feel he has received an answer. He knows that baptism is the next step but won't really commit to a specific date to be baptized until he has received his answer. He has received a witness but he doesn't know it yet. We are trying to help him recognize it and then to act upon it. Only time will tell..
Chris (our investigator) is still doing great. This last week we went by and took Preach My Gospel, which has a section of how to overcome addictions. We laid it out with him and set personal goals with him to overcome his addiction to tobacco and weed. He has been doing it! We taught him last night and he has been clean for a little while and is still striving to live the Word of Wisdom. It is great to be able to see an investigator really catch the light and see that blessings will come into their lives as they live the commandments of God. The only challenge that we are going to have with him is his girlfriend and getting them married so that he can get baptized. He is great!
Transfers are next week. I most likely will be leaving since both Elder Elkins and I will not be able to drive next transfer. Wherever the Lord wants to send me, I will go.
I never told you thanks for the Halloween package two weeks ago. So thank you!
This upcoming week will be a busy and excited one. We have a General Authority coming to tour the mission, Elder Claudio E. Zivic. He will be here on Friday and so we are having a mission conference on Friday. It will be spiritual and give us a re-boost.
That is about it that happened this last week. The work continues.
Love you!
Elder Harvey
